2023 Belgian GP Prediction – Formula 1

The Max Verstappen show continued at the Hungaroring in Hungary as the Dutch driver rode home to a comfortable victory. The victory allowed him to extend his lead at the top of the drivers' standings to a gargantuan 110 points, with no one seemingly able to stop him in his quest for a third consecutive world championship.

The victory was also historic in nature, as Verstappen standing at the top of the podium meant that it was Red Bull’s 12th consecutive victory, a record in Formula 1 history. Lando Norris finished second in Hungary, while there was also some reprieve for Verstappen’s team-mate Sergio Perez, as he sealed the final place on the podium.

A quick turnaround means that the drivers and the teams will hardly have any time to celebrate, with the F1 caravan moving to one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is an event on the annual F1 calendar that every driver dreams about. It is one of the fastest and most iconic circuits in the world and is known for being a driver's paradise.

Quick and aggressive drivers often thrive on this legendary circuit and Max Verstappen will be licking his lips in order to drive his flying Red Bull through the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

The 2023 Belgian Grand Prix will also have the added advantage and excitement of being a Sprint race weekend, meaning more action will be in store for the spectators. It being a sprint weekend will also mean an additional 36 points available for the drivers to accumulate.

While Verstappen remains the firm favourite, Lando Norris of McLaren is also riding a high after two back-to-back second-place finishes in Silverstone and Hungary. Sergio Perez will also be a relieved man after finally getting a good total of points after a few underwhelming performances.

Ferrari’s miserable season continues though after another miserable weekend, while Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton will also aim for a finish in the top-end of the grid.

The pace and speed of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will be a great leveller though and always expect the unexpected whenever the Belgian Grand Prix comes rolling around.

Weather forecast

Expect wet weather throughout the weekend during the Belgian Grand Prix. On Friday during the practice session, there is an 80% chance of rain. Rain is set to continue throughout the day meaning the qualifying session could also be affected.

Temperatures are expected to stay more or less the same on Saturday during the sprint race, meaning we could have a mouth-watering short race in order.

On race day on Sunday, the chances of rain reduce but still remain at 60% so wet tyres could well be in demand when the action gets underway.

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Iconic – One word that describes this legendary circuit in Belgium. Stunning to both look and drive at, racing on this circuit is a dream for every F1 driver.

The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps built all the way back in 1921 and was a part of the inaugural F1 season back in 1950. Legends are made on this 7.0004 kilometre circuit, with a mix of long fast straights and challenging fast corners. The iconic Eau Rouge is arguably the most famous sequence of corners out of any F1 track.

The circuit is also fondly remembered for some of the most famous drives of all-time, with Aryton Senna and Michael Schumacher notching up famous wins in Belgium.
