Bangladesh vs Pakistan 3rd T20

After two matches in two days, the third and final match of the T20 series between Bangladesh vs Pakistan is upon us.

It’s been a miserable time for Bangladesh who after a poor World Cup headed into this series with some renewed optimism and a new line up. However the experiment has failed as the Tigers were brushed aside in game 2. With the victory Pakistan wrapped up the series with one game to play.

Pakistan will be pleased to have wrapped up the series at the first time of asking and will be motivated to complete the series whitewash, they are priced at 1.25 to do so. In order to avoid a seventh straight T20 defeat Bangladesh can be backed at 4.00.

Team News for Bangladesh

A few months in cricket can be a long time, just months ago Bangladesh had swept the now T20 World Champions Australia aside 4-1 in a five match T20 series. Bangladesh headed to the World Cup full of optimism and as the 5th ranked side in the tournament. They were being touted as tournament dark horses and a side that could upset some of their major rivals.

Instead, it was a dismal tournament that barely got off the ground. The loss of key man Shakib Al Hasan to injury and the dropping of several other key men, has the set the tone for what has been an incredibly disappointing series against Pakistan.

As we mentioned in our preview ahead of the second match of the series, Bangladesh when batting need to tidy up their power play as they lose far too many wickets inside the first six overs. In match two, disaster struck once again as Bangladesh lost two wickets inside the first two overs. It left an inexperienced and exposed batting line up to face the brunt of the Pakistan bowling attack.

Despite some positive starts, the Bangladeshi batsman couldn’t kick on with the exception being Najmul Hossain Shanto who top scored with 40 off just 34 balls. Shanto’s innings perfectly encapsulates the problem with Bangladesh’s batting, as his knock off 40 was almost half off their overall total of 108. They must bat better if they are to take anything from this series.

Likely playing 11 of Bangladesh
Nurul-Hasan, Mahmudullah, N.Sheikh, Y.Ali Chowdhury, N.Hossain-Shanto, M.Hasan, A.Hossain, M.Rahman, N.Ahmed

Team News for Pakistan

Pakistan continue to go from strength to strength and look like world class outfit every time they take the field. The Pakistani’s must be left with a feeling of what might have been after losing in the recent World Cup semi final. In conditions that suited and with a huge following they might not get a better chance to win a World Cup than the one that has just passed.

Still, credit where credit is due as Pakistan have clearly not dwelt on that defeat and have brushed aside this Bangladesh side with the minimum of fuss. Shadab Khan and Sheheen Afridi have continued where they left off from the World Cup taking two wickets apiece in match 2, with both being incredibly economical.

Left to chase just 108, Pakistan took their time to reach the low total, ticking off the runs slowly, but they got the job done with a little under two overs to go. Mohammed Rizwan was the anchor scoring a measured 39 off 45 balls, Rizwan was happy to play second fiddle to Fakhar Zaman who scored 57 off 51 balls. The Pakistan batsman were never troubled and will be looking to sign off this three match series with a flourish.

Likely playing 11 of Pakistan

M.Rizwan, B.Azam, F.Zaman, S.Malik, A.Ali, I.Wasim, S.Khan, S.Afridi, H.Ali, H.Rauf, M.Wasim

Pitch and Weather Conditions

This match will be held in Dhaka, which will host all three games in this T20 series.

The venue was opened in 2006, and Bangladesh play a lot of their cricket here. In total, there have been 56 T20 games hosted at the venue, with the side which bats first winning 28 times and the side batting second winning on 28 occasions.

The venue favours spin bowling, which should play to both teams' strengths, look for the conditions to become harder as the game wears on with the team batting second, facing trickier and slower conditions.

Betting Predictions for Bangladesh vs Pakistan

Let's take a look at a few important betting predictions for Bangladesh vs Pakistan:

Match Result Prediction

Ahead of this third and final match of the series we have even more confidence in Pakistan completing the series whitewash than we did when previewing match 2.

The gulf in class between the two became more and more apparent during the second match of the series and Pakistan won it at a canter. With the threat of Pakistan being able to move through the gears with both the bat and ball their is just too much class in this Pakistan side to oppose them.

Bangladesh to have any chance need to go back to the basics with the bat and if made to bat first need to go all out to try and post a challenging total, but even that might not be enough.

Toss Prediction

Either team to win the toss can be backed at 1.91. On a pitch that could be very hard to bat on, the side that wins the toss will want to field to try and limit the total of the team that bats first. Any score over 150 should be very hard to chase.

Top Batsman for Pakistan

For the second consecutive match, Mohammed Rizwan outperformed his opening batting partner Babar Azam and we have a feeling that Rizwan will want to sign off this busy T20 period with a bang. If asked to bat first we fancy one of the Pakistani batsman to score big and odds for a century to be scored can be backed at 11.00.

We are hoping that Rizwan will be the man to post that big score and odds of 3.50 represents some great value.
