From Rishabh Pant to Mohammed Shami – Cricketers who met with car accident

Last week Rishabh Pant was involved in a horrific accident when he was returning from New Delhi to Roorkee after meeting his parents. The mishap happened not far from Roorkee's Narsan border.

Rishabh Pant's Mercedes car hit the divider and caught fire but thanks to God's grace the wicketkeeping batter survived the fatal accident.

Mohammad Azharuddin: On December 30, 2020, Mohammad Azharuddin's car was involved in a collision on the Kota mega highway in Soorwal, Rajasthan. Thankfully, Azhar was only slightly hurt and managed to flee the collision unscathed. The accident occurred while he was traveling to Ranthambore with his family.

Mohammed Shami: The Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was involved in an accident while returning to New Delhi from Dehradun in 2018. Shami’s Toyota was hit by a truck early in the morning and the pacer received 10 stitches on his head. Thankfully once again it was not serious as well.

Sunil Gavaskar: The batting legend Sunil Gavaskar was involved in a car accident while travelling from Manchester to London in 2014. When the incident happened, he was travelling in a Jaguar with other commentators Chandresh Patel and Marc Nicholas.

Gavaskar after the accident stated: “God has saved us. There was torrential rain and our car was being driven very fast. Thankfully, no one was hurt although the accident was very scary.

Joginder Sharma: Remember Joginder Sharma? The man who bowled the match-winning over during the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup was also involved in a car accident with another car in Dwarka in 2011.

Joginder Sharma, talking about his car accident, said, “I had a major head injury, fracture and clotting, was in the ICU, needed head surgery and about 40-45 stitches. The doctors were cautious because that’s the nature of head injuries. Kuch bhi ho sakta hain (anything can happen).
