BCCI and the Selection committee have announced the team India ODI squad which will be travelling to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series in December. Team India is currently playing an ODI series against New Zealand and after finishing the same, the selected players will be travelling to Bangladesh.
The series is important because now things are getting heated for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The performance of every player will be analyzed closely to make sure that the results are positive in the 2023 World Cup.

Strength
When it comes to the ODI format of cricket, the game depends on the form of the batsman. However, in recent times, Indian bowlers have turned out to be the match-winner. The primary strength of team India against Bangladesh will be their bowling skills. Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, and Mohd Siraj are in brilliant form and will be able to break partnerships with the new ball. In absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar has an opportunity to prove his talent and if given a chance, he will turn out to be the most valuable pacer in the middle overs. In the spin attack, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar will be leading the spin attack. Weakness
For the first time in the history of Indian cricket, India’s batting lineup is a weakness for the team. First of all, there will be a selection dilemma between KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Senior players like skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are not in form and this will be a big problem for the batting lineup. In this case, the whole pressure to score runs will be on Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. The uncertainty might impact the positive form of Kohli and Dhawan and the whole might lose wickets easily. If the opening lineup collapses, the hopes won’t be high with the middle order as Pant has not contributed much to the team’s performance in recent times.
Opportunity
The biggest opportunity for team India is the brilliant form of Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. Virat has played some of the best cricket of his life in the T20 World Cup. After a rest of almost a month, Virat will be eager to score in the ODI format as well and prepare himself for the upcoming world cup. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, has played a dual role in the ODI format for team India. He has scored runs as an opener and has led team India to win some brilliant matches. Dhawan’s experience as the leader of the team will come in handy and Rohit Sharma can use him as the man to look forward rd in the future in the ODI format. Rohit Sharma’s poor form can be revived if he opens with his old friend Shikhar Dhawan and they both have played some memorable cricket in the past.
Threat
The biggest threat to team India is the absence of a strong middle-order player. The pressure is on Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. However, Pant is not performing consistently and this will impact the overall scoreline. Another threat to team India is the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. Bumrah is out because of an injury and Arshdeep has been given some rest. Team India will be dependent on Shami’s experience to pick wickets and control the run rate of the opposition.
