IPL 2023: Five players who might go unsold in the IPL 2023 Auction

On December 23rd in Kochi, the fate of 991 players who have registered for the IPL 2023 auction will be decided and their future with the most elite T20 cricket league will be written.

BCCI will be conducting the midi-auction where all the franchises will take part and try to make some changes in their squad.

Mayank Agarwal, Kane Williamson, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Pat Cummins are some well-known names who have been released from their respective squads including 85 more players who have been released.

In this article, we have listed 5 such names who might not get any bids in Kochi

Among all these registered players, there will be a few names who might not find any buyer during the auction.

1) Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi became part of the Indian Premier League in 2017 and he has played 17 matches since then. The 37-year-old is going through a major dip in his career internationally and in T20 cricket.

Nabi was purchased by KKR last year but was not at all used during the tournament. He was also a failed player during the recently held T20 World Cup. Considering his constant poor performances, no franchise would like to invest in the diminishing asset.

2) Ajinkya Rahane

The season of 2021-22 has not been good enough for Ajinkya Rahane. He lost his place in Test cricket after consecutive below-average performances. During IPL 2022, Rahane got some opportunities to play with KKR but his strike rate was too less to make an impact and hence was removed from the position eventually. He has been released from KKR and hence might not get any buyers during the IPL auctions.

3) Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch has been one of the oldest names in the IPL tournament. He started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2010 and since then he has played with almost every team in the tournament. Australia’s T20 captain has not scored an impactful number with his bat this year and has failed to help his team win in the T20 world cup as well.

He was also ignored in the 2022 auction before KKR picked him at the last moment for 1.5 crores. However, he started off well in the tournament but eventually, the dip was visible and he was unable to score runs with his bat. KKR has released him and now he is looking for a new buyer which he might not find anymore in IPL.

4) Jason Roy

The English opening batter had a very disappointing end to his association with the newly formed team Gujarat Titans. He was bought by the Titans in the IPL 2022 mega auction for a price tag of 2 Crore. Roy’s responsibility was to give the team s strong start in the opening hours of the game. However, the player left the tournament in between giving the reason for bio-bubble fatigue.

The Titans parted ways with the player because his absence disturbed the whole equation of the team. Roy has been dropped from the England squad as well because of his poor performances.

5) Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo’s release from Chennai Super Kings was one of the biggest shocks in the news. The 39-year-old has been the leading wicket-taker for his team and has contributed to every win. Bravo has been associated with IPL since 2008 and has made a huge impact in the tournament overall.

However, considering his age, he might find a franchise to play with. The time has come for him to accept reality and focus on other things in life. Read similar articles on IPL 2023!
