IPL Auction: Five players who kept their base price too low

The IPL Auction 2023 is all set to commence on 23rd December 2022 and 991 players have registered for it officially. This new auction will bring in some new faces in every team and are expected to play their best game in the tournament

Every year the Indian Premier League is known for bringing in some young guns from the domestic circuit of Indian cricket and allowing them to showcase their talent.

Another contribution of IPL in international cricket is that it allows international players to revive their performance and perform at their best for their national team.

Among the 991 registered players, some international players will be going through the process. Find the best bookies in India to bet on IPL matches.

5 players who have kept their base price too low considering their past & recent performances

Here's the list:

5) Ajinkye Rahane

Kolkata Knight Riders bought Ajinkye Rahane in the last year’s auction but the player completely failed to leave an impact in the tournament.

Rahane was able to score 133 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 103.91. Considering his below-average performance, KKR decided to release him and Rahane registered for the upcoming auction.

He has set up his vase price as 50 lakhs which is too low for a player like Rahane considering his experience with the tournament and his talent. The Indian batter has featured in 158 matches and amassed 4074 runs at a strike rate of 120.68.

4) Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 IPL auction but the experienced Indian batter completely failed to deliver as per expectations. He was part of six games in IPL 2022 and was able to score 88 runs at a strike rate of 110.

Lucknow has chosen to let go of Manish and the batter has registered himself for the upcoming IPL 2023 for a base price of 1 Crore. Now considering his last year’s performance, Pandey’s base price seems high but with the amount of experience he carries in international cricket and IPL, his base price is too low for the auction.

3) Harry Brook

In recent times, Harry Brook has become an international sensation from England in all the formats of the game. The year 2022 has turned out to be a positive year for the English batter and he has helped England to score some thrilling wins in the T20 World Cup.

Not only in the T20 format, but Brook has also made a name for himself in the Test format as well. Given his rise in international cricket, it was a shock to see Brook keeping his base price at 1.5 Crore. The IPL franchises will be going through a bidding war for Brook during the auction.

2) Kyle Jamieson

The Kiwi pacer has become a strong pillar for the New Zealand squad in the Test format. He has displayed a very flamboyant style of bowling in international cricket and has dismantled some strong batters in all the formats of the game.

However, Jamieson completely failed in IPL 2021 and he missed out on the 2022 season. He has registered for the IPL auction 2023 for a base price of 1 Crore.

The 27-year-old is not at his best when it comes to T20 cricket but considering his performance in international cricket, Jamieson has kept the base price too low.

1) Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal had a very disappointing ending with Punjab Kings after last year’s performance in the IPL tournament. He couldn't justify his performance for the franchise and Punjab Kings decided to part ways with the player.

For the IPL 2023 auction, Mayank has kept his base price to 1 Crore. However, considering his stats and experience, the base price is too low.

The 31-year-old has featured in 113 games and accumulated 2327 runs at a strike rate of 134.28. Mayank can still be a huge asset to any team he will become part of.
