The Next Generation of Team India

Indian cricket has always made headlines in international cricket with the quality of players the country has produced. Since the day cricket reached the common man in the Indian subcontinent, the finest players of the game started to make their way to play for their country and showcased their talent in international cricket.

Indian cricket has always gone through some big changes in every decade. Previously there were Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev who were the poster boys of Indian cricket, then came players like Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Anil Kumble who stayed at the top for the longest time.

After the trio, it was time for young guns like Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Zaheer Khan, and Harbhajan Singh to handle the responsibility of Team India.

Currently, we have Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami who are taking Indian cricket to the next level and preparing the next generation to take over.

Online bookies around the world come out with fancy odds on cricket teams and players.

The Next Generation of Team India

We have compiled a list of the next generation of players who will eventually handle the responsibility of Indian cricket in every ICC tournament.

1) Shubman Gill

The 23-year-old Indian opening batsman from a small town in Punjab called Fazilka made his debut for team India in the ODI format in January 2019. The player already made headlines in domestic cricket and was knocking on the door of the selectors for a long time. However, the real talent of Shubman Gill was displayed in the 2022-23 season when he started scoring centuries and made his first double-century.

Once Rohit Sharma is no longer with the team, it will be Gill who will be responsible to handle the responsibility to start the game for team India and it clearly looks like the team management is preparing him for the same.

2) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is considered one of the most talented upcoming batsmen from the Indian camp. The player announced his arrival by scoring a double century in December 2022 but he already started making headlines in the Indian Premier League while playing for Mumbai Indians.

The 24-year-old wicket-keeper batsman is a T20 expert but he has made himself available for the ODI and the Test format as well. It has been observed that Ishan is not getting ample chances but the team management has assured him that he will get chances at the right time.

3) Arshdeep Singh

Indian cricket has always struggled to discover a reliable pace bowler. However, the problem was solved when Zaheer Khan made his debut for team India and after him, the responsibility came on the shoulders of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami. The duo have done wonders for team India in all the formats and now their responsibility is to craft the pace talent of Arshdeep Singh.

Arshdeep made his debut for team India after a commendable performance in IPL 2022. He was one of the biggest contributors to team India’s win against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup. Arshdeep is currently in a learning phase but speculations are that soon he will be the most reliable pacer Indian camp has ever produced.
