The ODI series between West Indies and India has begun and the hosts have started the series with a loss in a low-scoring 1st ODI. The 2nd ODI is scheduled to take place on Saturday at Kensington Oval Barbados. Team India will be confident to wipe out the hosts and score a series win.
West Indies are not playing the way they used to. The scorecard of the 1st ODI is an example of the same and it also says that the team needs a major revival. The top bookmakers have favourable odds with them for this ODI.
Team India got a major benefit from the pitch and the decision to bowl first by the skipper worked in their favour. And they will look to continue in the upcoming ODI as well.
It was a spinner’s paradise in the 1st ODI and the hosts failed to handle the attack from the opposition. After a slow start from the opening lineup, skipper Shai Hope handled the innings by scoring 43 off 45 balls at a strike rate of 122.22. After his departure, the West Indies batting lineup crumbled like the House of Cards. Gudakesh Motie picked up 2 wickets in 6.5 overs at an economy of 3.80 at the bowling front. The hosts are missing out on impactful batting and to equalise the series, the middle order will have to up their game.
Team Management will be concerned over the failing batting lineup and they will have to make some harsh decisions to change things in the camp.
Predicted Lineup: Shai Hope (c & wk), Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph, Oshane Thomas, Yannic Cariah, Alick Athanaze, Kyle Mayers, Jayden Seales, Romario Shephard
Rohit Sharma made the decision to bowl first and the pair Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja got the benefit for the same. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 4 wickets in just 3 overs at an economy of 2 and Jadeja picked up 3 wickets in 6 overs at an economy of 6.17. Ishan Kishan gave a good start to the team by scoring 52 off 46 at a strike rate of 113.04. Shubman Gill, however, failed to impress and lost his wicket at 7 runs. Team India looks confident and in good shape for the 2nd ODI and has a good chance to win the series.
Skipper Rohit Sharma will be using the spin duo again in the 2nd ODI but might give a chance to Yashaswi Jaiswal in the 2nd ODI.
Predicted Lineup: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kuldeep Yadav
