It has been a disappointing start to South Africa’s tour to Australia as visitors lost the first Test. The second Test of Australia vs South Africa will begin on 26th December at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Australia. The hosts had a comfortable win in their first Test and would be looking forward to dominating the second Test as well.
South Africa are in a tough spot right now and to make sure that they remain the contender for the World Test Championship trophy, the Proteas will have to win the second Test.
The Australian bowling department was ferocious with their attacks on the visitors. In both innings, Australian bowlers turned out to be the match-winning factor.
Aussies are getting the benefit of the home conditions but as they come on a different pitch to play the second Test, they might find a major roadblock from the visitors.
It was a shock to see the South African batter departing early and without contributing anything to the team’s success.
The Gabba pitch turned out to be a bowling paradise as the South African bowlers also did a great job by eliminating the Australian batters. However, the Proteas would like to make a comeback against the hosts in the second Test fixture.
Our experts believe that the second game will be a close fixture but in the end, Australia will win the match.
The betting tip is...
Australia will win
After a below-average performance from the opening pair, it was Travis Head and Steve Smith who gave the team stability on the field and helped the squad to go past the score of the visitors.
Both David Warner and Usman Khawaja completely failed to give their team a good start. Bowlers, however, did a great job as Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon picked up 3 wickets each. The hosts would like to score another win to score a series win against the visitors.
The Proteas never expected such a demoralising start to their Australian tour and the first Test. It was because of Kyle Verreynne’s stable inning and Temba’s small contribution, the team reached a number of 152 during the second inning.
However, the duo failed in the second inning as the team lost all the wickets at a score of 99. In the bowling department, Marco Jenson and Kagiso Rabada made major contributions and will be expected to continue their momentum.
The second Test is at Melbourne Cricket Ground which is known to support the batters more. The game will be a thriller and we expect Australia to score a win.
