Sri Lanka vs India 3rd ODI 2021 is a dead rubber in a lot of ways. The series has been decided and there is nothing to gain for either team. This is also a T20 World Cup year and so the ODI's are not particularly important these days. This third match is actually going to be the last one that India plays the entire year! Still, an international match is always important and the players taking part will want to make an impression. Both Sri Lanka and India may make a few changes in this last match to give some of their bench players a chance. The weather is also expected to be a bit wet for this match and some delays could be in store.

Sri Lanka vs India 3rd ODI 2021
Teams’ strengths & weaknesses
Sri Lanka played much better cricket in the second ODI but it could not get a win. The strength of this Sri Lanka team is its batting. The absence of former legends like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene means that Sri Lanka's batting is not as dangerous as it once was but it is still the stronger discipline. A number of batsmen have got runs in this series and it appears as if they are getting better with each match.
The weakness in the Sri Lankan team is there for everyone to see. Its bowling is just not good enough for an international team. There does not seem to be anyone that can take wickets with the new ball or polish off the tail or even spin the ball consistently.
India's strength is the fact that it is playing without the fear of losing. The second match was an excellent example of when the ultra high-risk approach of the batsmen backfired but that did not stop the middle-order batsmen from attacking. India kept on scoring quickly even when the traditional approach would have been to take a step back. The leadership of the team has to take a lot of credit for this mindset in the younger set of players.
The weakness for India has been its new ball bowling. None of the bowlers have looked like taking a wicket and that has allowed the Sri Lankan batsmen to get set.
Players in form
Asalanka has scored runs for Sri Lanka in both matches so far and that is going to give him a lot of confidence. He has been very good in the middle order against the spinners and is quite good at accelerating in the end overs also. Wanindu Hasaranga is the other Sri Lankan player that is in really good form. He bowled his ten overs without going for many runs and spiked up three wickets as well.
Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three wickets in the previous match and showed just how good he can be when he is at his best. He managed to slow the pace down when required and always was one step ahead of the batsmen. Shikhar Dhawan is another player that is in great form for India even though he got a poor score in the previous match.
There is a lot of rain forecast for this match so there could be a few delays
- India has won its previous ten matches against Sri Lanka
- No team has won as many ODI's against another as India has won against Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka came very close to winning the previous match and just needed a little bit of luck going its way. India's young team still has a lot to learn and its aggressive approach could end up backfiring. Sri Lanka vs India 3rd ODI 2021 could be the one where Sri Lanka finally breaks its losing streak.
Winner: Sri Lanka (4.85)
