Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2021 is going to be a very keenly awaited match. These are two teams that have fallen down in the ranks over the recent seasons and their fans would be very keen to see a return to form so as to speak. Both teams have some of the best T20 players in the world but the focus is going to be on David Warner and Andre Russell, the creme de la creme of the bunch. This match is being played in Chennai and we believe that may be a bit of a letdown for KKR since it prefers to play on faster pitches at home.
Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2021
Teams’ strengths & weaknesses
The Sunrisers are a strong bowling team. They have the best t20 bowler in the world in Rashid Khan and their bowling was the pillar that lead them to their title. For this season, though, SRH seems to have improved its batting lineup as well. There is more depth than before and we think the balance of the side looks very good.
KKR is a team of brilliant individuals. There is a lot of all-round quality in the team but choosing the best 4 overseas players may not be easy. The batting is very strong and that is a clear strength, however, the bowling attack remains a work in progress. Also, we think the shift to a spin-friendly destination may be something that ends up being a problem for KKR.
Players in form
Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy were phenomenal for England when they played against India just a few weeks back. Unfortunately, we don't think both of them are going to get a chance to bat but Jonny Bairstow should make the cut. He is the player to watch out for in the SRH camp.
Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan are the two players that are in good form leading up to the IPL. Morgan is a phenomenal batsman that can accelerate during the middle while Gill is going to be the attacking batsman upfront. They both need to perform if KKR has to do well. It is as simple as that.
The weather is going to be hot and humid but that is expected. There was not too much dew during the opening match played in Chennai and so that is something to be happy about. The pitch is slow and will be difficult to score on. We saw 160 almost be enough for a win in the first match and that shows that conditions are not going to be very favorable for batting after all.
- KKR has won 12 out of the 19 matches played between these two sides
- SRH is quite dependent on David Warner and that is true for this rivalry against KKR as well. he has scored 616 runs, which is almost twice that of their next best batsman.
- The only match that KKR and SRH have played against each other in Chennai was won by KKR.
The teams are pretty evenly matched if you consider everything. The batting lineup of KKR is very dangerous and you can never count them out of the game until Dre Russ is at the crease. SRH has a better bowling attack and its spinners may be able to make better use of the conditions in Chennai. KKR's excellent record against SRH should give it the edge in this contest. It has won three out of the last four games it has played against SRH and we think KKR can definitely win again.
Winner: Kolkata Knight Riders ($1.86)
