Three players who deserve a chance in Team India?

Team Indian & Indian cricket is known to produce a large amount of talent every year through domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League. Since the invention of the Indian Premier League, Indian cricket has completely changed.

We now have specialized players for every section and every year a new face makes it to the senior team.

It is because of the T20 format that players like Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson have now become the backbone of Indian cricket.

The biggest question here which needs to be asked is, even after having so much talent pool, why is Indian cricket still behind and unable to win the World Cup?

India witnessed a major nightmare in their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign and in 2022, Team India was on the right path but suddenly lost their way against the dominating approach of England.

In 2021, India lost their first match against Pakistan by 10 wickets and in 2022, Indian players were unable to pick any wickets of the England players.

The nightmare for the Indian selection is not ending and even after playing musical chairs with the selection of the players for a year, they are unable to find the right chemistry for the winning team.

Every year in the Indian Premier League and in domestic cricket, some young names make it large and knock on the door of the senior team.

From the 2021-22 season, we have some names that should be selected for the national team. Team India needs a change and these new faces might come as fresh air to breathe for the men in blue.

1) Sarfaraz Khan

BCCI and the selection committee have announced the squad for the Bangladesh Test tour. The Ranji Trophy star, Sarfaraz Khan, is still missing from the team and it is a shock to see him not being part of the team even after displaying a good amount of consistency in domestic cricket.

The 25-year-old Sarfaraz Khan has been dominating Indian domestic cricket for the past two seasons. Sarfaraz has scored 928 and 937 runs in both seasons of the Ranji Trophy and it is a huge disappointment that his name is not being considered for the senior team.

He also carries an average of 81 in first-class cricket which is the second highest. Even after doing so much in domestic cricket, Khan’s name was not there for the Bangladesh tour.

BCCI should consider him soon for the test format as he can be an added advantage for the whole team.

2) Prithvi Shaw

Every year Prithvi Shaw makes headlines with his brilliant performances in the Indian Premier League and in domestic cricket. He has been a consistent performer for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.

The opening batsman has helped his team to win some crucial matches every time the team has found themselves in a difficult situation. In 2021, he did get an opportunity to play for Team India against Sri Lanka but since then he has been ignored by the selection committee.

In last year’s edition, Shaw scored 382 runs at a strike rate of 181. In the IPL 2022, the Delhi Capitals opener blasted 283 runs at a strike rate of 152.

3) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad recently made headlines while playing in Vijay Hazare Trophy as he smashed 7 sixes in an over.

The Chennai Super Kings’ opening batsman carries a good record in domestic cricket and has played with consistency in the Indian Premier League as well. He was the orange cap winner in IPL 2021.

Like Prithvi Shaw, Gaikwad also made his debut for team India in the T20 format in 2021 against Sri Lanka but since then the player is getting a complete shut-eye from the selectors.

Let's hope that the new selection committee gives him a chance to prove his worth in international cricket.
