This match against Bangalore could help it take the first position and start to distance itself from the rest of the pack. Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL 2021 will be held in Ahmedabad, a bit of an unknown since we do not know the surface is going to behave. The indications are it will be a good batting surface and so we will work with that assumption in mind.

Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL 2021

Teams’ strengths & weaknesses

Delhi has been very strong at the top of its lineup in IPL 2021 so far. The batsmen have been able to score runs consistently and gotten the team off to a good start on more occasions than not. It also has a very good spin-bowling lineup that can test any opposition. The weakness has to be the middle-order that is out of form and the overseas players that have not been able to play to their potential just yet.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is similar to Delhi Capitals in a lot of ways. Bangalore also has a very strong batting lineup and is even more powerful in terms of big-hitting. There is a bit of a lack of depth and the team is missing a good quality Indian batsman to just help it during the middle overs. The fast-bowling has been excellent for Bangalore and that is another strength for sure. The fielding, not as good, and a definite negative up until now.

Players in form

Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw are the players in form for the Delhi Capitals. Both of them have been scoring runs consistently and at a great strike rate. The better batting conditions in Ahmedabad could really allow them to play freely. Axar Patel also showed a remarkable amount of control after returning to the team and looked in good form as well.

Devdutt Padikkal is beating fearlessly at the top of the order and is batting with more authority than in the previous season. He is certainly in good form as is Glenn Maxwell. Both of these players seem completely at ease when they are at the crease and always threaten to take the game away from the opposition.

Match conditions

This match is going to be played in Ahmedabad. The pitch should be better for batting than at Chennai but maybe not as high-scoring as what we saw in Mumbai. A more even contest between the batsmen and the bowlers can be expected.

Game statistics

  • There have been 25 matches played between these two teams and Bangalore has won 15 out of them
  • Delhi has dominated the recent rivalry between these two teams and has won the previous four matches in a row
  • Virat Kohli loves batting against Delhi and has scored 921 runs against them, easily the most for any player in this contest

Bangalore has had a bad game but it has been brilliant on all other occasions. Its batting lineup is very strong and should enjoy the conditions in Ahmedabad better than Delhi. Also, if there is any bounce then someone like Mohammad Siraj could be quite tough to counter. Delhi may have won the previous four matches in a row but Bangalore also won the previous five before them! It may be time for Bangalore to get back to winning ways against Delhi.

Winner: Royal Challengers Bangalore (1.97)
