England vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20l 2021

The first T20 between England Sri Lanka was a mismatch and England vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20l 2021 could be the same. Sri Lanka never seemed to have a chance of winning the match and England just did not make any mistakes. Everything seemed to be happening in slow-motion with an air of inevitability around it.

Sri Lanka now faces a tough task to turn things around in the span of just a few hours. It is going to be very difficult but that international cricket is not easy. England could look to experiment a bit and give some of its other squad members a chance. Morgan has been averse to changing his team too much in recent matches but this is as good an opportunity to test the bench as ever.

Teams’ strengths & weaknesses

England has no real weaknesses to speak of in the T20 format. Its batting is deep and filled with power all throughout the lineup. In fact, there is no other team (apart from maybe the West Indies) that can match it in six-hitting prowess. Maybe Dawid Malan's form can be seen as the only real weakness that it has at the moment or the fact that it does not have a mystery spin option like some other teams have.

Sri Lanka vs England was like the average joe vs a heavyweight boxer. It was no contest. Sri Lanka was found wanting in shot selection and sheer skill. Its batsmen were not able to handle the kind of raw pace that Mark Wood bowled or the consistency of the other bowlers. Sri Lanka's bowling was also just too easy for the English batsmen to face. The only strength that we could see was an impressive amount of batting depth on paper that could allow it to play more fearlessly in the future.

Players in form

Jos Buttler came into form after returning to his favorite opening position and just powered England to a victory. Jason Roy also looked in good touch with the bat. The bowling form of Adil Rashid should not be missed. He picked up two wickets and gave away just 17 runs in his four overs. That is just unbelievable in T20 cricket and a potentially match-winning effort.

Dasun Shanaka scored a fifty in the previous match and played quite well striking two sixes during his inning as well. Kusal Perera scored 30 and got out but he looked good during his time at the crease and could score a lot many more runs in this match. None of the Sri Lankan bowlers had a game to remember but Dushmanth Chameera was the best out of the lot.

Match conditions

The second T20 is also going to be played in Cardiff. We think the pitch that was offered was quite good for batting and England will be able to score a lot of runs if given the chance. The large outfield always brings the spinners into play at this groud.
