SA vs WI 2nd T20l 2021 is going to be played just a few hours after the completion of the first one. That was a match where the West Indies showed just how strong it is in the format and absolutely destroyed South Africa. The West Indian batsmen gave us an exhibition in power hitting and the South Africans just had no answer. The second match is also going to be played at the same venue (Grenada) and it will take something really special for South Africa to be able to compete with West Indies. The weather forecast for the match is also better than the first one.
SA vs WI 2nd T20l 2021
Teams’ strengths & weaknesses
West Indies has an insane amount of six-hitting power in its team and that is its biggest strength. There is batting till number 9 or even number 10 which allows the batsmen to play freely from the very go. There is no respite for the opposition and the wickets don't seem to matter at all. The weakness for the West Indies is the amount of risk it has to take to hit all of these sixes. There is a good chance that its batting can collapse on an off-day or against a strong bowling lineup.
South Africa's bowling is its strength. It may have had a bad day against the West Indian batsmen in the first match but that does not mean the bowlers are not good. Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Anrich Nortje can hit back against the West Indian batsmen quite easily. Tabraiz Shamsi is also the top-ranked bowler in T20 cricket and was quite effective in the first match as well.
The batting, though, looks to be a definite weakness. No one apart from Quinton de Kock looked to be able to score runs at the rate required. David Miller also came in too late to have an impact and maybe that will change for this match. As things stand, South Africa just does not match the West Indies in the batting firepower department.
Players in form
Evin Lewis scored a brilliant 70 plus score for the West Indies in the first match. He is a prolific six-hitter and is going to be the player that South Africa is most wary of. He has seen a real resurgence in form over the last few months and is more consistent than he ever was before. The bowling of Fabian Allen also deserves a mention here. He bowled his four overs for just 12 runs and picked up an important wicket.
South Africa's Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen looked to be in good form with the bat. Although neither of them could carry on and get a big score they certainly were striking the ball nicely. Among the bowlers, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi escaped the punishment that all of the other bowlers recieved. these four players could be among the game changers for South Africa in this match.
The rain seems to have disappeared from Grenada as the forecast is for sunny skies. A lot of runs were scored in the first match and we think the batsmen will be able to enjoy the outing once more. A sic hitting fest is in store.
- South Africa hit five sixes in their inning while the West Indies smashed 15
- Anrich Nortje bowled his two overs for just 12 runs but did not get another over in the match
- The previous game was the first time in six years that Pollard, Bravo, Gayle, and Russell have all turned up for West Indies in the same game
South Africa may have been defeated in the first match but we think it is going to strike back in SA vs WI 2nd T20l 2021 because of its bowling attack.
Winner: South Africa (2.34)
